British Post-WW2 Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife with Scabbard

This is an original British Post-WWII Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife with scabbard, a military edged weapon design that continued to see use and manufacture after the Second World War. Originating from the classic WWII pattern developed by Fairbairn and Sykes, this knife embodies the thrust-optimized form that became iconic with British commandos and special forces.

This example is maker marked “WILLIAM HODGERS” on the blade ricasso and features an additional unclear stamp on the guard which appears to show “Made in England”, indicating post-war British manufacture. There is also a 1 stamped on the pommel. The blade retains traces of its original blackened finish with an honest greyish patina throughout, showing age appropriate to its period service. The classic ribbed bronze black grip remains vivid, and the original stitched brown leather scabbard shows excellent age and character. This knife represents an authentic and historically interesting example of post-war British military edged weapons, well suited for collectors of WWII and post-WWII combat knives and special forces memorabilia.
