Original German WW2 Iron Cross Second Class - EK2 with Ribbon

A German WW2 Iron Cross Second Class (Eisernes Kreuz II Klasse / EK2) in excellent condition, brought back by a U.S. veteran. The iron core retains its original black finish, surrounded by a silvered frame with light aging. The ribbon loop is intact, and the piece is certified by the Gettysburg Museum of History, ensuring authenticity and documentation.

Instituted on September 1, 1939, by Adolf Hitler, the EK2 was awarded for acts of bravery or leadership in combat. The design follows a legacy dating back to 1813 and is one of the most recognizable military decorations of WWII. Unlike the First Class version, the EK2 was worn on a ribbon from a buttonhole and not pinned directly to the tunic.

Specifications:

  • Material: Iron
  • Origin: Germany
  • Period: WW2
  • Provenance: Brought home by a U.S. serviceman and later verified and sold through the Gettysburg Museum of History

Condition:

Good – Noticeable wear from age and use but remains structurally sound. Considered average condition for most collectibles and memorabilia. Minor imperfections or signs of handling may be present but do not detract from the overall integrity of the item.
