This original WW2 German Demyansk Shield Award, complete with its official named award certificate, was issued to Unteroffizier Georg Lange of the 5./Grenadier Regiment 376. The shield, originally worn on the uniform, features a Wehrmacht eagle, swastika, and crossed swords beneath “1942,” commemorating the infamous siege in the Demyansk Pocket.

Instituted on April 25, 1943, the award recognized soldiers who withstood the Soviet encirclement from February to May 1942. The certificate, dated April 1, 1944, is printed on original wartime parchment and bears commanding officer signatures and Third Reich insignia. Both the shield and certificate are professionally matted and framed, preserving their historical integrity.
