WW2 German Police Visor Cap Eagle 2nd Pattern
This is an original WWII German Police Visor Cap Eagle, 2nd Pattern, used by the Ordnungspolizei (German uniformed police) during the Second World War. Police eagles of the 2nd pattern represent a later wartime style, produced as the conflict progressed and changes in uniform components were standardized across the police services.
This example features the spread-winged eagle with its head facing to the eagle’s right, clutching a wreath enclosing a swastika, executed in a stamped metal format. The detailing on the feathers, body, and wreath elements remains distinct, with appropriate relief and definition for a 2nd pattern production. The reverse retains the original attachment pins consistent with period visor cap mounting methods, indicating an authentic and correct piece for a police service cap. The back is also marked ZS 39. This eagle represents an authentic example of WWII-era German police insignia, well suited for collectors focusing on wartime uniform components and Ordnungspolizei headgear.
